With high school graduations and ceremonies cancelled or gone virtual due to the ongoing pandemic, we at Kamp Kohut wanted to give our former kampers some well-earned recognition for completing this educational milestone. We asked them to fill us in on what they’ve been up to and/or are planning post-graduation. Below is what they (or their proud parents) have told us.

The Kohut Family is so proud of the achievements of these young men and women. We look forward to following their future successes!

Molly Rothschild will be attending the University of Michigan in the fall. She plans to study Organizational Studies and Psychology. Molly was active all four years of high school in Student Government and the Leadership class of her high school. As a Senior Class Officer she helped facilitate the Virtual Graduation and had the honor of reading the names of her classmates during the graduation ceremony. During the month of February, Molly was the Chair of her school’s Charity Month and oversaw ten fundraising and spirit-building events which ultimately raised over $40,000 for Children’s National Medical Center in DC!

Patrick Freeman graduated with an honors diploma, and was a member of the National Honors Society. He received a local scholarship from the American Legion for his academic standing and outstanding school and community service. He was a 4-year, 3-season Varsity Runner (XC, Indoor Track and Field, Spring Track and Field). Senior year, his fall XC Team finished as League Champions, and in his last indoor season race of his HS career, he ran a personal best in the 4x 800m relay, helping his team finish in 2nd place at the NYS Section 1 State qualifier! He hopes to have the opportunity to continue his running career in college. Patrick will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the fall, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Jackie Benjes is going to Brown University and is interested in Education, Psychology, Political Science, and Spanish. She was awarded the Hooper Lawrence Prize, given for “those qualities that contribute so much to the happiness of other people, a cheerful disposition, an unselfish nature, and a kind heart.” She was also awarded the Spanish Language prize and cum laude distinction. Jackie was a Senior Advisor, serving as a mentor to freshmen students.

Elizabeth Sklaire will be attending Washington University in St. Louis in the fall and planning to major in Environmental Engineering. Elizabeth participated in Varsity Cross Country and Track all four years in high school.
