They’re calling it a winter polar vortex that’s hitting the entire country, from California to Maine.  We’ve had friends and family from across the nation report that these are the coldest days they’ve ever known.  Yes, it is definitely COLD out there!  One recurring theme in all of these conversations is how much these sub-zero temperatures make us wish for those gloriously warm summer days at Kamp even more so.  Honestly, thinking of the sparkling lake, the bright, blue skies, and the warm, green grass does actually make it feel a little less cold.  We’d go as far as saying it totally takes away the chill, especially when we start thinking of our friends and all of the summer adventures that made memories to last a lifetime.

We also found another way to make the best of the cold…  Our annual Kamp Kohut Reunions!  Held just before the holidays, we enjoyed seeing a number of our Kamp families in the Boston Area and the New York City Area.  This year’s event had a special twist – a “Dunk Your Kicks” theme, where we collected sneaker donations to help raise money for pediatric cancer research.  You can learn more here about this great organization that we partnered with.  Many thanks to those who joined us and dunked their shoes for a good cause!  Stay tuned for how we plan to continue this fantastic drive to help save lives through the summer months!

Now, if all of those things still don’t work in warming you up, you could hit the road with our very own Program Director, Josh Lomon, who is currently enjoying 70 degree weather on his kamper recruiting trip to Asia.  Yes, that’s right!  He’s currently in Asia, meeting with prospective families and sharing information about our fabulous program at Kamp Kohut.  Stay tuned for more information and updates on his winter adventures.  You could also connect with Steve, who has been on a variety of whirlwind marketing trips all over the East Coast recently and will soon be heading to Florida for another round of home visits.   The temperatures should be a bit balmier in Miami than the current readings here in Cape Elizabeth, so chances are you’d stay a bit toastier!  While the recent winter storms stalled a Chicago trip for Lisa, she’s not staying put for long!  She’s headed overseas next week for a staff recruiting trip in the UK.  Keep an eye out for her at the Camp Leaders’ fairs and a variety of marketing events throughout England.

Last, but not least, if you’re still feeling a bit shivery, drop us a line!  We’d love to hear from you and we’re sending warm wishes your way already.  May 2014 be your best year yet!

Lots of love,

Your Kohut Family
