Land Sports Team

Ollie – Land Sports Director

Ollie graduated from Exeter University in England where he majored in Sport Science.  He came to Kohut in 2014 where, as an LTA Tennis Level 2 qualified coach, he taught tennis.  Along with tennis, while at University Ollie ran cross-country and played tennis competitively. He actually competed for the 1st team in BUCS competitions in cross-country.


Jasmin –  Gymnastics, and Assistant Land Sports Director

Jasmin has been a competitive gymnast for almost 17 years and is a USAG Certified Gymnastics coach.  She has competed for San Jose State in NCAA Division I and has coached children in California from ages 2 – 16.  This will be Jasmin’s fourth year at Kohut and her third year as Assistant Land Sports Director.  Jasmin is Wilderness First Aid certified and will be teaching in the Outdoor Education Department this summer for the first time.

 Sam – Fencing

Sam found out about Kohut from his friend, and former Kohut staff member, Sean.  Sam currently fences Epee and Foil for his university, winning gold medals in tournaments in both weapons.  Twice a week Sam gives fencing lessons alongside his Head Coach, focusing on footwork, blade work, distance control, priority rule exploitation, and more.  He runs sessions with groups of mixed abilities and always includes a combination of fun exercises, engaging drills, and structured bouting.  Sam has also played rugby for a number of years, competing and coaching at his local club and his boarding school where he was Prefect and Vice Captain.  He is currently a rugby coach for “Under 8’s” and maintains his fitness and aerobic exercise constantly.  Sam also has work experience in a school for children with a variety of learning and developmental disabilities area 11 and 12.  Sam is studying Ancient and Medieval History at Trinity College Dublin and long-term sees himself as a Classical Studies teacher at the secondary level.

Rachel – General Land Sports

Rachel is studying Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Leeds.  She is training to be a Physical Education Teacher and worked this past year as a PE teacher in several local primary and middle schools.  Rachel has her Level One Soccer Coaching Qualification and plays for her university’s Women’s Soccer team.
